Over the past 20 years our shoes have been featured in various retail shops around the country. About a year ago we decided it was time to step things up a notch. We created a website, started this blog and built a fairly large Facebook following. We've worked to make our presence known online, and now it's time to hit the pavement and get ourselves into some new retail spaces. Instead of spending hours Googling shoe stores, clothing boutiques and gift shops, we thought we'd start the old fashioned way - through the recommendations of friends.
You know our shoes, you understand our philosophies and you probably have a good sense about which kinds of shops we belong in and which we don't. How about putting them in "college" towns ie. Northampton,MA
ReplyDeleteI think Athens GA would be great place to sell your shoes. It is a big college town and it is always busy. Coming from Scipio NY it is quite a change and yet it is not a big city like Atlanta. I used to make those shoes back in the early 90's. I still wear them and I love them. I think you would find a market for them here. Remember it is hot in the summer and those open toed shoes would be great.

Northampton, MA is the perfect fit for Aurora Shoes. The Mountain Goat on Main St comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteha! i was going to suggest some local stores (in northampton, ma) but someone beat me to it! however, i will second mountain goat on main st. they're a fabulous store with a lovely (limited) selection of quality footwear.
ReplyDeletei've been a huge fan of aurora shoes since i went to wells 11 years ago! (wow!) i love my two pairs and think everyone needs some good handmade shoes in their lives!

Gartner's Capital Shoe Hospital in Bismarck, ND. It is a pretty practical place, but they carry a small line of shoes that are higher quality (repairable!) and the people who go there are probably looking for good shoes.

In Portland, OR you might talk to Alder & Co (http://www.alderandcoshop.com/) and Tumbleweed (http://tumbleweedboutique.com/shop.html). Both carry a small selection of shoes, but aren't primarily shoe stores.
